This Privacy Policy explains how Alt ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Alt, including our website, web app, group chat integrations, bots, AI agents, image generation features, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Alt is currently a United States alpha service intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Alt is operated from the United States and directed at users in the United States.
By using Alt, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Alt is a small alpha. Members of our team may review your conversations with Alt, your prompts, your uploaded photos, and your generated images in order to operate, debug, and improve the Service, ensure safety, and enforce our policies. You should not expect your interactions with Alt to be private from Alt.
We limit this access to people who need it, we do not sell your information, and we honor deletion requests as described in this policy.
We collect information you provide to us, information created when you use Alt, and limited information from third-party platforms when Alt is added to a group chat or workspace.
We may collect information such as your name, username, email address if you provide one, login information, and other account details.
If you choose to use Alt's likeness-based image generation features, you may upload reference photos or other materials depicting yourself. We use these materials so Alt can generate AI images using your likeness.
You may use Alt without uploading a likeness. You can also ask us to remove your likeness while keeping your account.
We store raw reference photos. We do not store separate face embeddings, faceprints, or face templates.
We collect prompts, commands, messages, and other instructions you send to Alt so we can respond, generate requested content, provide the Service, debug issues, maintain safety, and enforce our policies.
We collect and store AI-generated images and other outputs created through Alt, including metadata associated with those outputs, such as the drop, group, workspace, prompt, or user associated with the generation.
Alt can be added to third-party group chat platforms, including services such as Slack, Discord, and other community or workplace tools. When Alt is authorized in a specific server, workspace, channel, group, or chat, we may receive information from that authorized space, including:
Depending on the integration settings and platform permissions, Alt may process only messages that mention or invoke Alt, or it may process messages in an authorized channel so Alt can respond with context. A server, workspace, or channel administrator or other authorized person must authorize the integration for that channel or space. Alt does not access unrelated channels, servers, workspaces, or direct messages unless separately authorized through the relevant platform.
We may collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, interaction logs, error logs, and approximate location derived from IP address.
We do not currently use analytics cookies or advertising trackers. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.
If you contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address, message content, and any related support information.
If you submit a report, takedown request, or other safety or likeness concern — including through alt-beta.app/report — we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, a description of your concern, any links or identifiers you supply, and your relationship to the content. You may submit a report even if you do not have an Alt account.
Alt lets users create AI images using their own likeness and, where permitted, the likenesses of other consenting users in a shared group, drop, channel, workspace, server, or chat.
You may only upload reference photos or likeness materials of yourself. You may not upload photos or likeness materials of another person unless we expressly allow it and you have all required rights and permissions.
By adding your likeness to a group, drop, channel, workspace, server, or chat where Alt is used, you give Alt permission to process your likeness to provide the Service, and you give other authorized members of that space permission to create AI-generated images using your likeness within Alt, subject to our Terms and Content & Likeness Policy.
You may revoke future permission to use your likeness by contacting us at help@alternate.app or by using any deletion tools we provide. If you remove your likeness, generated images using your likeness will be deleted from our servers, unless we are required or permitted to retain limited information for legal, security, compliance, or abuse-prevention reasons.
Some Alt features involve processing photos of your face or likeness to create AI-generated images. This processing may involve detecting facial features, facial position, orientation, structure, or other image characteristics so that AI systems can generate images that resemble you.
We store raw reference photos that you upload. We do not store separate face embeddings, faceprints, or face templates.
We use reference photos and facial information only to provide Alt, generate requested outputs, maintain safety, debug, comply with law, and enforce our policies. We do not sell your reference photos, facial information, or likeness data.
By uploading a reference photo or using likeness-based features, you consent to this processing.
We do not use your reference photos, likeness, private group chat messages, prompts, generated images, or other user content to train Alt-owned machine learning or AI models.
We also do not use content obtained from Slack, Discord, or similar third-party platforms to train machine learning or AI models.
We use user content to provide Alt, generate requested outputs, operate and secure the Service, troubleshoot issues, enforce our policies, and comply with law.
Some AI features are provided by third-party AI providers. We configure those providers not to use your content to train their models where their services, account settings, or terms allow.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
We use third-party service providers to operate Alt, generate AI outputs, host data, provide infrastructure, debug, secure the Service, and support users. These providers may include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Google Cloud / Vertex AI, Black Forest Labs, Replicate, Fal, Modal, Supabase, and other infrastructure or AI providers.
These providers process information on our behalf or as otherwise described in their own terms and privacy policies.
When you participate in a shared Alt experience, other authorized users in that shared space may see your profile information, prompts, generated images, and other content you create or share in that space.
If you add your likeness to a shared Alt space, other authorized members of that space may be able to generate images using your likeness within Alt, subject to our Terms and Content & Likeness Policy.
When you use Alt through Slack, Discord, or another third-party platform, information may be shared with that platform according to its permissions, APIs, and privacy practices. Your use of those platforms remains subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or government requests; enforce our Terms or policies; detect or prevent fraud, security incidents, abuse, or harm; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Alt, our users, or others.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and prevent abuse.
Reference photos remain stored until you ask us to delete them or remove your likeness. Generated images remain stored until you ask us to delete them, delete the associated likeness, or delete your account, unless limited retention is required or permitted for legal, security, compliance, or abuse-prevention reasons.
You may request deletion of your account, reference photos, likeness, generated images, or other personal information by contacting help@alternate.app. We will respond to deletion requests within a reasonable time. Some information may remain in backups or logs for a limited period before deletion occurs, and we may retain limited information where required or permitted by law or for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
We maintain records of deletion requests, likeness and identity claims, abuse reports, safety reports, and takedown requests in order to comply with legal obligations, investigate misuse, enforce our policies, prevent abuse, and document our compliance efforts.
These records may be retained after associated content has been deleted where reasonably necessary for legal, security, safety, audit, or compliance purposes.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of certain personal information, or to opt out of certain uses. You may exercise these rights by contacting help@alternate.app.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
If applicable privacy laws give you specific rights, we will honor those rights as required by law. We do not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no internet or electronic storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Alt is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Alt is operated from the United States and directed at users in the United States. Your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access Alt from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative, your information will be processed in the United States, and you are responsible for complying with local laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law or through the Service. The updated Privacy Policy will be effective when posted unless otherwise stated.
